Assam finance minister and convenor of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) in a tweet on Wednesday stated, “ Yesterday I received a call from Hon HM Sri @AmitShah to discuss about issues pertaining to enduring peace in #NorthEast. Despite being in hospital his commitment to work is unwavering. This sets a benchmark for us all. India is proud to have you as Home Minister Sir. Admiration!”There was an intensive decision between Ravi and these groups in October last year where a major contentious issue like separate flag was resolved. The government of India had set a deadline of October 31, 2019 to wrap up the talks which started in 1997 after a formal cease-fire agreement between the Government and NSCN I-M was signed in 1997. The signing of 3rd August, 2015 Framework Agreement between NSCN-IM and government of India was hailed as a milestone in the Indo-Naga political talks. However, in the last couple of months, NSCN-IM has sharpened attacks on the government of India. Doubts were expressed from several quarters after Nagaland Governor Ravi who is the also Governor of Nagaland in a letter to Chief Minister N Rio stated the scenario in the state is grim and law and order has collapsed. The Governor in his letter pointed out that the law and order has collapsed. The constitutionally established state government is being challenged on a day to day basis by the armed gangs who question the sovereignty and integrity of the nation while instruments of law and order remain totally unresponsive.A team of Indian Army, Assam Rifles and Arunachal Police in a joint operation neutralised six active cadres of NSCN (IM) near Nginu in Longding District of Arunachal Pradesh on July 11 last this led to angry reaction from NSCN-IM.NSCN-IM has sought to know if the ceasefire between the government of India and the outfit is only restricted to Nagaland or extends without territorial limits. The outfit expressed its annoyance to the as recently in an office memorandum Chief Secretary Temjen Toy stated all the heads of departments are directed to obtain information in the self-declaration form attached herewith from all government servants under his/her department/office regarding family members and relatives in underground organisations and submit to the Home Department, political branch latest by 7th August, 2020.The WC, NNPGs is of the opinion that Ravi Interlocutor in the Indo-Naga political dialogue has exhibited serious concern and commitment with practical touch.“Past interlocutors and negotiators, in mutual comfort zone, indulged in innuendos and political gymnastics with routine hyperboles and hypothetical assumptions to sedate the Naga people”.The WC of NNPGs stated, “We have negotiated at length and agreed in principle the proposed political arrangements, entrenching distinct Naga identity in all Naga inhabited areas. After all it is a Naga narrative and not of one leader”. WC, NNPGs believes that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and current Interlocutor by now, realise that the Naga people have great hope in their future through enduring peaceful co-existence, as reflected in the Agreed Position of 17th Nov. 2017.
