Maharashtra skill development minister Nawab Malik’s son Faraz purchased flats from Mohammad Ali Shaikh for a price ‘lower than market value’ when Shaikh had a case under Mcoca, BJP leader Mohit Kamboj has alleged.”Nawab Malik’s son purchased two flats worth ₹4.5 crore from Mcoca accused Mohammad Ali Shaikh. The market value was ₹15 crore but purchased for ₹4.25 crore,” he alleged in a tweet on Wednesday. Shaikh, booked under Mcoca in 2010 by the Mumbai Police’s crime branch in the Sayed Madar murder case, was acquitted in 2015. Since the flat was purchased in 2011, Kamboj’s insinuation was that Shaikh may have ‘received help’.Malik, when contacted by ET, however, said that his son had not purchased any property from Shaikh. “My son purchased properties from the daughter of Mohammad Ali Shaikh, who was not facing any criminal cases. The property was legal. We did due diligence and my son mentioned it in his Income-Tax returns,” he said. “The allegation that the property was purchased at a lower price is also not true, as it was per the ready reckoner rate. If there was anything untoward about the deal, the Income-Tax Department would have investigated,” Malik said.
Kamboj said that he would address a news conference on Malik on Saturday. Malik said he would reveal some incriminating stuff about BJP leaders on Sunday. In a related development, the Shri Shiv Pratishthan Yuva Hindustan, a right-wing organisation, felicitated NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede, who faces allegation of attempted extortion from a NCB witness.
