Lokpal orders CBI probe against Mahua Moitra, TMC MP says ‘welcome to count my shoes’

The Lokpal has reportedly ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra based on a complaint lodged by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. This development follows a previous accusation by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who claimed that Mahua Moitra had been asking questions in the Lok Sabha with the intention of targeting the Adani Group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for gifts.

The matter had been referred to the Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha for investigation.

Meanwhile, Moitra took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “For media calling me- my answer: 1. CBI needs to first file FIR on ₹13,000 crore Adani coal scam 2. National security issue is how dodgy FPI owned (inc Chinese & UAE ) Adani firms buying Indian ports & airports with @HMOIndia clearance Then CBI welcome to come, count my shoes.”

She further wrote, “Very happy to know Modiji’s Lok Pal exists – & been spurred into action by specially bred pit bulls. Also Godi Media – why not ask Lok Pal’s office to release statement on referral. Bit humiliating for LP office to outsource such important announcements to canine farms, eh?”

Mahua Moitra has denied these accusations, particularly those related to receiving any pecuniary benefits. The Ethics Committee has been scrutinizing the matter in detail.

While the Lokpal’s decision to order a CBI inquiry is a significant development, it’s important to note that there has been no official confirmation or statement from the Lokpal regarding this matter at the time of reporting.
