J&K Assembly Polls: PM Modi-led campaign to feature Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Yogi Adityanath, and more

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday released its list of star campaigners for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. BJP bigwigs such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were the top names for the campaign.

The BJP push for the historic elections will be led by the prime minister while the saffron party president and Union Minister of Health JP Nadda will also be participating. Among the 38 other names submitted to the Election Commission of prominent faces who will visit Jammu and Kashmir during the campaigning. are:

  • Union minister Nitin Gadkari,
  • Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar,
  • Union minister G Kishan Reddy,
  • Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan,
  • Union minister Jitendra Singh,
  • former union minister Anurag Thakur,
  • Smriti Irani,
  • Gen (Retd.) V K Singh,
  • Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma,
  • former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jai Ram Thakur

The list also featured former BJP general secretary and newly appointed election in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Madhav, along with party national general secretary for Jammu and Kashmir, Tarun Chugh, Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Rajya Sabha member Ghulam Ali Khatana, General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Kaul, and BJP vice president for Jammu and Kashmir, Sofi Yousuf.

In a letter to the Election Commission, BJP national general secretary Arun Singh stated that the list of 40 party star campaigners should be considered valid for the remaining phases “unless we submit an amended list” within the specified timeframe.Earlier on Monday, the party released the first two lists of its total 16 candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir polls.
