Govt trying to intimidate MPs selectively: Opposition

Opposition parties on Thursday accused the government of trying to intimidate their MPs selectively and vowed not to take it lying down. Their statement came after the push for suspension of some Trinamool Congress MPs in Rajya Sabha and the charge that some of the protesting MPs had misbehaved with some Parliament staff.“The BJP doesn’t even have tolerance. Suspension of six TMC members was wrong. They did nothing wrong,” leader of opposition Mallikarjun Kharge told media persons after the adjournment. “Placards have been used earlier also. If attempts are made to crush and muzzle our issues by targeting us, using threats, fear, pressurise, the Congress and united opposition will not budge and will keep fighting.”He asked how the government can accuse the opposition of maligning Parliament when none of the senior ministers held a collective meeting with opposition leaders to break the ice.

Meanwhile, Congress’s Rahul Gandhi addressed a Youth Congress-organised ‘Sansad Gherao’ (Parliament blockade) protest and targeted the PM. “Brothers and sisters, please remember, your mobile phone is your voice. You can express whatever you want through this mobile phone. You have to understand that Narendra Modi has put Pegasus inside your phones. Not only inside my phone. The idea of Pegasus has been inserted into the phones of the youth by Modi,” he said.
