Former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi passes away in Guwahati

Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi passed away in Guwahati after suffering from multi-organ dysfunction.

The 86-year-old former chief minister was admitted to GMCH on November 2 with post covid complicationsand was on non-invasive ventilation (NIV). He was put on invasive ventilation on Saturday night as his condition deteriorated.Earlier today, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal tweeted, “Flying back to Guwahati from Dibrugarh after cancelling my programmes midway to be on side of respected Tarun Gogoi da & his family as the former CM’s health deteriorates. He has always been a father figure to me. I join millions in praying for his recovery”.Days before he was diagnosed with COVID-19, the leader was at the forefront of the Congress initiative to form a ‘Grand Alliance’, comprising all the opposition parties for the 2021 assembly polls.
