Focus of two-day BJP-RSS coordination meeting is education policy

A two-day meeting of the RSS and the BJP began in Delhi on Tuesday, with a focus on discussing the wide contours of the National Education Policy (NEP).Senior RSS leaders Krishna Gopal and Arun Kumar are presiding over the meeting which began early on Tuesday. From the BJP, party general secretary CT Ravi is participating. Leaders from the RSS’ education wing, Vidya Bharti, also attended the meeting on the first day. Vidya Bharati has flagged concerns over the availability of trained teachers in regional languages and the resistance of some states in implementing the NEP.”We have held many closed-door meetings on education, culture and economy in the last few days. Points will be put across. (RSS chief) Mohan Bhagwat ji also had many meetings in Kashmir where the targeted killings of Hindus are a major concern for us,” an RSS functionary said.

He said over the last few days, there were concerted attacks on authors writing books on Sangh ideologues and the RSS was formulating an effective strategy to “counter them”.A discussion on the curriculum of schools also took place on Tuesday and leaders from Vidya Bharti sought to know whether their recommendations were being worked out by the government as well as the party.Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan will also take part in the meeting on Wednesday where he would present the government side on the implementation of the NEP.
