“Congress kept every issue important for the country entangled… Congress did not allow Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya. Congress did not allow the Constitution to be fully implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. They deprived our sisters of reservation in Parliament and Assembly. Congress kept our Muslim sisters entangled in the problem of triple talaq. Congress did not solve the problems of the country and its citizens but instead used all its energy to establish its own family,” PM Modi said at the election campaign.
“Today the whole of Haryana has to take a pledge – all those who love India will remain united, we are one and we will vote unitedly for the country. We will unite and vote for the future of our children. We will unite and vote for the safety of our daughters. We will unite and vote for jobs without any expense slips. We will unite and vote for new investments, and new jobs in Haryana. We will unite and vote for good roads and better irrigation,” he added.
PM Modi also accused the grand old party of having only one agenda – appeasement for votes, maximum appeasement; and making false-promises as against the BJP’s goal-oriented strategies. “Today Congress is saying that it will end reservations for Dalits and backward classes. This is what they have done in Karnataka. As soon as the Congress government was formed there, they snatched the reservation of Dalits and backward classes and distributed it among their vote bank,” the BJP leader in his last Haryana rally.
Elections for the 90-member Haryana Assembly is set to be held on October 5 and the results will be declared on October 8. For this year’s assembly polls, Haryana is witnessing a multi-thronged contest, with the ruling BJP facing anti-incumbency as well as a resurgent Congress.
After a decade in power in the northern state, the saffron party is faced with a crucial test in the Haryana elections, centred around key issues such as farmer protests, leadership changes, and wrestler support.
