‘Can’t continue with this humiliation’: Amarinder tells Sonia

Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh is believed to have told Congress president Sonia Gandhi that he “cannot continue with this humiliation,” party sources told ET bureau.This comes hours ahead of a meeting of the Punjab Congress legislative party called by the party leadership on Saturday in response to a demand by MLAs opposed to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh .

There has , however, been no official word from Captain Amarinder Singh or from his office on this matter.The meeting was called at short notice by the Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Rawat in a tweet on Friday night.”The AICC has received a representation from a large number of MLAs from the Congress party, requesting to immediately convene a meeting of the Congress Legislative Party of Punjab. Accordingly, a meeting of the CLP has been convened at 5 pm on 18th September at Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee office,” the tweet said.Rawat’s tweet also asked the PPCC to facilitate the meeting. “All Congress MLAs of Punjab are requested to kindly attend this meeting,” it said.The prime movers this time are Pargat Singh and Tript Singh Bajwa, both close to party state chief Sidhu. They have also demanded that two neutral observers be sent from Delhi to narrate their grievances.
