Bill to repeal three farm laws passed by Lok Sabha

In a big win for farmers, Lok Sabha has passed the bill to repeal the three farm laws that were at the centre of a year-long protest.The bill was introduced by agriculture minister Narendra Tomar amid din as opposition members demanded discussion on the bill. The bill will now be taken up by the Rajya Sabha.

PM Modi had announced that the three farm laws will be repealed on November 19 and urged farmers staging protests to end the stir and go back to their homes and fields.Speaking on the passage of the repeal bill, BKU leader Rakesh Tikait said that it is a tribute to all 750 farmers who lost their lives during the agitation. The protest will continue as other issues including MSP are still pending: BKU leader Rakesh Tikait Earlier, Congress MPs led by party chief Sonia Gandhi and former president Rahul Gandhi on Monday staged a protest in Parliament complex over the issue of farm laws.The Congress President earlier addressed MPs of both the houses in the office of the Congress Parliamentary Party.Party leaders then marched towards Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in the complex and raised slogans against the Central government and the prime minister.
