Andhra Pradesh on Monday reported 8,601 new Covid-19 cases, maintaining less than 10,000 cases for the second consecutive day after reporting over 10,000 cases on Saturday. The latest count pushes the state’s tally to 361,712, which includes 89,516 active cases.A week ago, the state had reported more than 10,000 cases for five consecutive days and for three consecutive days in the previous week.The state public health bulletin on Monday evening said 86 more persons succumbed to the infection in the 24 hours till Monday morning, taking the death toll in the state on account of Covid-19 to 3,368.The number of recoveries since Sunday morning stood at 8,741, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 268,828 thus far.A statement from the AP Covid-19 command control room said, 54,463 samples were tested in the state in the 24 hours since Sunday morning, taking the total to 32,92,501 tests so far – the fourth-highest in India after Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra.East Godavari (1,441) reported new Covid-19 cases in four digits while the other 12 districts of Andhra registered fewer than 1,000 cases each.
By Monday morning, Andhra Pradesh has reported 61,657 tests per million persons, as against the national average of 25,885 tests. The state’s rate of new positive cases stood at 10.99%, above the national average of 8.65%.Andhra’s recovery rate stood at 74.32% as agaisnt the national average of 75.27%, while its Covid-19 mortaility rate amounted to 0.93%, lower than the national average of 1.85%.
