110 central projects being prepared for inauguration in UP

The Uttar Pradesh government has prepared a list of 110 central projects, entailing a total estimated cost of ₹67,510 crore, which could be inaugurated or for which the foundation stone laying ceremony could be held in 100 days starting from August in the run-up to next year’s assembly election. In this list, there are 76 projects which have been completed or are on the verge of completion and their tentative inauguration has been scheduled for August and September, said people in the know. There are 34 projects for which the government has planned a foundation stone laying ceremony, they said. The list does not include the Purvanchal Expressway, which is a state government project.

Last month, BJP president JP Nadda had held a meeting with Union ministers and asked them to prepare a list of ongoing projects along with their completion schedule in election-bound states. The UP government has prepared a list for the next 100 days. UP is significant for the BJP’s 2024 general election plan and hence the party and the government don’t want to leave any stone unturned.“No date has been fixed for inauguration as such, as right now only the list has been prepared. A detailed inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony plan will be prepared in the coming days,” said a state government official, who did not wish to be identified. While some of these projects will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his upcoming trips to the state, Union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and others too will inaugurate projects in UP, said BJP functionaries.
