Govt’s evacuation strategy flawed, insensitive: Opposition

As an Indian student was killed in Ukraine amid reports and video messages claiming that more students from the country have gone missing, some while trying to leave the war-ravaged nation, opposition parties lashed out at the Modi government by charging it with having a flawed and insensitive evacuation strategy.”Received the tragic news of an Indian student Naveen losing his life in Ukraine. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. I reiterate, GOI needs a strategic plan for safe evacuation. Every minute is precious,” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said in a post on microblogging site Twitter. All India Congress Committee spokesperson Ragini Nayak alleged that the Centre’s attitude and strategy in evacuating the stranded Indian students were “insensitive, cruel and devoid of any vision” and that the government was responsible for the killing of the Indian student.

She asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the external affairs ministry to reveal the government data “if at all they have one” on the number and identity of the Indian students stranded in the danger zone or have gone reportedly missing while trying to leave Ukraine on their own “after not getting any help from” the government of India and embassy.
