Allow PAC meet to scan vaccine policy, Adhir Ranjan tells speaker

Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee chairman Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Thursday wrote to Speaker Om Birla, seeking immediate permission to hold a PAC meeting to scrutinise the Centre’s vaccination policy against Covid-19. Though House panels are not allowed to meet currently due to Covid-19 surge, Chowdhury said, “in numerous occasions in the past” the PAC met with Speaker’s permission to taken up matters of larger concern. Today, the policy towards vaccinating the people for tackling the Covid-19 pandemic has become utmost important. As the lives and livelihood of the people of the country as a whole are dependent on an effective vaccination policy, I would request you to kindly permit PAC to meet and deliberate upon this subject matter with the representatives of the Government i.e, the Ministry of Health, ICMR and others concerned (by any mode either physical or virtual, depending upon the Covid-19 situation), Chowdhury said in his letter to the Speaker.
