MUMBAI: Maharashtra animal husbandry minister Sunil Kedar has slammed party colleagues Mukul Wasnik, Prithviraj Chavan and Milind Deora for being signatories to a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the leadership ‘drift’ in the party.“Whole heartedly support honourable Sonia Gandhi ji as president. It’s shameful on Mukul Wasnik, Prithviraj Chavan and Milind Deora to raise questions on leadership of Gandhi family. These leaders must apologise for their act immediately. Otherwise Congress workers will see how they move in state freely,” Kedar tweeted in a show of loyalty to the Gandhi family. Later talking a news conference in Nagpur, Kedar said he stood by his remarks. “So-called intellectuals of the Congress have taken a stand on the leadership issue which is not acceptable to common Congress workers like us,” he said. His cabinet colleague for relief and rehabilitation Vijay Wadettiwar said that Congress MLAs were willing to bring down the Maharashtra government if Rahul Gandhi so desired. When asked if Gandhi was against the idea of Congress joining the Maharashtra coalition government, Wadettiwar said: “It is not true that he was not keen. If that were so, this government would not have happened. If tomorrow Rahul Gandhi becomes party president and asks us to leave the alliance, we will not stay in government for a minute longer.”
